The joys of pet parenthood. The puppy training. The dog training. And the little expenses that can add up quickly.

Well, this quick hack gives an additional purpose to common packaging for everyday items… saving a little money for a little somethin-somethin for your best buddy... or your home.

And it takes less than 30 seconds!
We’re so excited when our puppy conquers that major milestone in dog training… potty training. For Ms. Buttons, this means a walk in the morning and one in the evening to take care of her daily business. And I am more than happy to oblige for my sake and the sake of my home.

Now, any dog owner will tell you that anything that can become a poop bag will become a poop bag. This quick hack repurposes  common packaging from everyday items… again saving a little money for you and your best buddy.

Estimated Time to Complete

Once you have the items needed (which we’ll get to in a moment)… 30 seconds.

Level of Difficulty

Easier than easy!

Estimated Cost

FREE!!!

Items Needed

  • Scissors
  • Items you typically purchase with non perforated packaging… meaning no holes. This includes paper towels and toilet paper featured in this post.

Optional
  • Empty facial tissue box (for storage)
  • Black marker for covering address if reusing (Amazon) shipping bags (covered later)

Instructions

  • When cutting open packing, cut from the top… creating an open bag.
  • Carefully remove items from packaging.
  • Now you have a doggie poop bag for that next walk.
  • Store bags in old tissue box or for easy access with leashes and other doggie poop bags.

Buttons has her bags and is ready for her walk in the neighborhood... saving the traditional (poop) bags for social walks.

Here's a FREE storage idea... and an additional use for those bags!

My mommy stores my DIY poop bags in empty tissue boxes.

She also uses them as liners for a small trash can in her bathroom.
As Ms. Buttons' mentioned, because of the more functional nature of this hack, I would only using these bags as can liners in a private area away from guest.

So save a little while getting an extra use out of the typical bulk paper product packaging... bringing more of the function and practicality than the style on this hack.

Having Trouble Getting Started?

I used to feel the same way too. After all, who wants to put time into a project that may not work in their specific home? That's why I created this Quick DIY Check Prep (List) for getting you started on those projects that actually enhance your home. I use this when starting any home DIY endeavor... big or small.
Knowing the "whys" of your home projects not only helps you with the "hows" but keeps you focused on the DIY endeavors that will matter for you... saving you time and money.
