Ahh, the change of the seasons…. the weather, our wardrobes. And yes, for many like me, the change of the scents in our homes. So I giddily shopped and purchased new candles…. only to find that I already have some of those exact scents stashed in several places throughout my home. (Ugh!)

Let's end those frustrating scavenger hunts for candles when you need them. Here is a FREE and easy practical organizing method for easy access each change of season (or for that quick housewarming gift)… saving you time and money.

Like me, you may have originally thought that storing your candles was as simple as packing and stacking a bunch of candles in a box and shoving it to the back of a closet. However, soon we forget where we put them. Or, it becomes too cumbersome to store and access… so they end up searching around your house in those places "you thought you'd know where to find them"… but really don’t until you don’t need them.

So let's end the candle clutter and chaos in your home. Organize them for easy access saving you time and money... in under 30 minutes.

Estimated Time to Complete

Once you’ve sorted your candles and accessories… 15 - 30 minutes. (Time dependent on number of candles and accessories.)

Level of Difficulty

Easy.

Estimated Cost

FREE!!!
Note: You may need to purchase packaging tape and paper if don't have these on-hand.

Suggested Workspace

You need an ample space for sorting and organizing. A large tabletop or a less-traveled space on the floor work well.

Materials Needed

  • Cardboard (wine) boxes  -  (FREE at your local grocery store for the asking or from those recent deliveries)
  • Shoe boxes
  • Computer/ printer OR pen and paper (for creating labels)
  • Scotch Packaging Shipping

Using one large box or larger, bulkier boxes become quite heavy and difficult to maneuver.

Based on your storage space, determine whether boxes need lids for stacking.

Simple Instructions

  • Determine the space allotted for storing candles. It could be a space in a closet. And it should be indoors protected from temperature fluctuations... so I don't recommend a garage for example. For me, I like multipurpose furniture that provides storage (like a wooden chest in my office).
  • Sort candles by categories that make sense for you. I chose by seasons and scents.
  • Declutter by discarding damaged candles or those you won't use.

  • Place remaining candles in their respective category boxes.
  • Create 2 labels per box define candle category (such as "warming foods", "fruit/ citrus", "winter", "fall", "aromatherapy", and "neutral"... as well as candle size categories like "white pillar 8 inch" in this example).

  • Attach labels to top and "exposed" side of each box for easy access.
  • Place or stack in designated space for candle storage (determined earlier).
  • Close door or lid and enjoy.
