Vitamin Storage Ideas Saving You Money and Time

Tired of tossing expired vitamin supplements, buying more of what you already have, or running out of what you need? 

Avoid running out of your tumeric gummies or overbuying your chewable vitamin Cs... saving yourself time, money, and frustration... with these  easy storage ideas. And check out tips for daily doses that don't fit in those cute, little pill organizers.

Although not "pretty", organization and lack of clutter are a thing of beauty. We'll begin with effective inventory of those multiple bottles of supplements... again... to avoid buying what you already have and avoid tossing expired goods... while preventing running out of supplements you need.

Later, we'll get into time-saving quick grabs for daily vitamins and supplements.

But for now, let's start with seeing what you've got!

Items Needed

• 1-gallon ziplock bags
• (Clear) plastic tub/ storage container that fits in a pantry - 5 to 7 inches in depth

​Optional Items

• ​Sharpie pen

Instructions

• Gather and sort vitamin bottles by supplement: vitamin B-12, vitamin C, turmeric, probiotic digestive enzymes, etc.

• Put bottles in respective ziplock bag for that vitamin. This allows you to quickly view your inventory of each vitamin and not overbuy because of the designated allotted space of the ziplock bag. (Optional: Write vitamin name on bag with sharpie.)

• Place bagged supplements in storage (clear) tub... again allowing for quick viewing of inventory and limited space for not overbuying. 

• Easily slide into kitchen cabinet or pantry shelf.

Heat and moisture from your shower, bath, and sink can damage your vitamins and medications... making them less potent or going bad before the expiration date. If possible, store your vitamins and medications in a cool, dry place like a high shelf or cabinet in your kitchen away from heat.

Organizing Daily Supplement Doses 

As mentioned earlier, here is my sort and organizing idea for daily opened vitamins and supplements bottles.

Less than 15-20 seconds per vitamin/ supplement.

Level of Difficulty

Very easy.

Items needed

• Sandwich or snack-size ziplock bags (7 - 10)
• Condiment/ flatware organizer or  portable multipurpose caddie (Because most of us already have a version of this... it's FREE)

Condiment/ flatware organizer used on picnics or for entertaining

​Instructions

• On clean surface... set out daily doses for each supplement by day. (I do up to 9 days).
• Places daily doses in (daily) ziplock bag.
• Store open containers of each daily supplement along with daily ziplocks in condiment or multipurpose caddie (in kitchen cabinet or pantry).
• Reuse ziplock for the next week.

Storing gummy vitamin and supplement bottles upside down allows for easy access of gummies at the top of the bottle... rather than having to dig through for gummies stuck together at the middle or bottom of the bottle.
