Ever stood in front of your jewelry, already late, only to find yourself wrestling with a tangled mess of necklaces? Maybe you can’t see what you have, so you keep reaching for the same pieces or buying duplicates because everything is buried, knotted, or forgotten.

Large “everything” displays often turns into visual and mental clutter or simply aren’t realistic for limited spaces.
So here’s an under-an-hour solution saving you time, frustration, and money in a functionally artistic way.

Women wear 10% of their jewelry 90% of the time.

What if you could:
  • Keep your go-to necklaces visible, organized, and ready to grab
  • Store the rest in a way that prevents tangles and breakage
  • Do it all in under an hour with a necklace organizer aesthetic that actually looks pretty

I’ll walk you through a simple DIY necklace organizer hack that does double duty... showing off your everyday favorites like art while neatly storing the rest so nothing gets lost (or tangled!).

Because when you can
see and reach the necklaces you love, styling them (and actually wearing them) becomes effortless.

Estimated Time to Complete

Set aside up to 50 minutes to sort through all your necklaces. Once you’ve chosen your go-to favorites, setup takes less than 10 minutes.

Level of Difficulty

Very easy.

Estimated Cost

Free to under $25. No cost if you already have the basic materials on hand.

Painting a contracting color frame will give the piece that work-of-art look with the contents of the cork board (the necklaces) the framed art.

Instructions

For Your Everyday Favorites
  • (Optional) Give your cork board a simple refresh by painting the frame in a color that contrasts with your walls and the cork. Just mask it off and spray paint. I had already done this from a previous project when it hung in my office.

  • Sort your necklaces into three simple groups: keep, store, and let go. Donate or toss any costume pieces that have discolored over time.
  • Of the "keepers", untangle those necklaces putting aside those you wear most and want easy access to.
  • Lay those favorites out on a contrasting towel or blanket so you can clearly see them. This helps you choose what and how to display them.

  • Starting with your longest and largest pieces, begin hanging them from the push pins. (Note: I used white capped push pins so they would show up in project images.)

  • Hang your board on the wall with a nail and enjoy your new, tangle-free setup.

  • And every time you walk by… don't forget to admire your work.

My mommy hangs her necklace organizer right behind her bedroom door… prime viewing spot for me. I get to admire it when we go to bed and first thing in the morning when I’m ready to start the day. Best part? She can quickly grab her “necklace of the day” before we head out for our morning walk!  🐾

Storing the Rest
So what about the necklaces you’re keeping but not reaching for every day? Let’s keep them safe, tangle-free, and out of the way.

Grab an old kitchen or hand towel and follow this quick method:
  • Lay out the towel.
  • Place each necklace untangled, spacing them about one to two inches apart across the width.

  • Gently roll the towel up.

  • Store it in a drawer or even a tote or duffle bag you don't use.
It’s simple and protective, keeping those occasional pieces ready without turning into a knotted and discolored mess.
A functional piece created out of necessity that becomes art.
